This looks to have once been some form of mechanical mechanism. There's a hole under one arm which I assumed would be for a key wind but can see no evidence of this inside the hole. The papier mache finish has marks and paint wear and some loss to "hair" too. Wearing nice old knitted outfit of jacket and trousers. Antique German 201 Composition Old Character Baby Doll - £50.00 Dating to the 1930s, this antique German composition baby doll is just 10 inches in height.A delightful little baby with the prettiest cornflower blue sleep eyes and lovely colouring. She's on her original composition straight leg body with some wear/grubbiness to limbs/hands. As you can see, Tony has wear around base of neck (front and back), small nibble to lower cheek and there's sprinkling of pin holes to back of neck too.
Box is tatty/fragile with detached flaps but bottom still quite sturdy.
Usually found on bent limb body, this boy is on fully jointed "broomstick leg" body, all fingers and toes intact (minor chip to one toe and thumb).
The bisque head has ingrained dirt and couple of fine firing scratches from the factory (below one cheek and beside neck mould line). The mould number mark is very faint and tiny within the hair, looks to read 142.
No repaint or restoration, there's separation to the finish at the shoulders and light age related paint wear but overall very good for years.
The good quality hard composition head has a few rubs to hair paint but no cracks, chips or hairlines.
